Different Types of Airsoft Rifles

By Justin Kander

Most people think of airsoft rifles as just AEGs, but many types of airsoft rifles exist. While some kinds are better than others, the unique features of each type make them all acceptable.

The fact that there are so many kinds of airsoft rifles means that you should take a fair amount of time to learn about them. By being knowledgeable, you ensure that you will make the best decision about what airsoft rifle to buy.

LPEGs, or low-priced electric guns, are relatively cheap airsoft rifles. They still have fair sized firing powers even with the low price. LPEGs tend to be replicas of famous guns like the AK47.

The second type of rifle is the MPEG, or mid-priced electric gun. They are more pricey than LPEGs, but the difference is price is made up for with quality. Echo1 and similar brands can be classified as MPEGs.

Full on automatic electric guns (AEGs) are the best kind, as they are full metal and have extremely high firing rates. Brands such as Classic Army and Tokyo Marui focus on AEGs. For the serious airsoft player, owning an AEG is a must.

Gas rifles do not utilize electricity, but instead use green gas or CO2 as the method of propulsion. These airsoft guns can reach firing powers greater than electric guns simply because they use gas. However, they are not as wieldy, so there is a trade-off in handling for power.

Airsoft rifles that utilize springs are the cheapest kinds. While they need to be cocked before each shot, they can still have firing rates that match electric rifles. Spring rifles are perfect for beginners because of their price and simplicity.

With so many types of airsoft rifles, including spring, electric, and gas, there are a plethora of models you can choose from. Depending on what you want, one category may be preferred over another, and finding something is not hard as long as you know what you are looking for. - 16887
