Seiko Divers Watch - For the Aquatic Adventure

By Ed J Price

Dive watches are made to endure almost any given situation of the deep. Specially engineered time pieces are required for dives up to 900+ feet to endure the high pressures present. Many solutions have been come up with by several manufacturers to counteract this problem. In spite of this, one watch that has stood out from the rest is the Seiko dive watch. Seiko was formed in 1881 with only a single shopkeeper, since then Seiko has become synonymous with high quality watches.

Seiko Kinetic Divers Watch

The wonderful thing about Seiko is that it produces everything from the oil and face decor to the gears and watch casing. The Kinetic watch line was developed in 1986. The main idea behind it was to power the watch from the natural movement of the wearer. This is carried out by a pendulum that rotates with walking and as it does this, it spins a pinion gear upwards of a hundred thousand RPM which in turn charge that battery that powers the watch.

Seiko also developed the technology for their watches to be able to descend underwater. The Seiko divers watch combines a stainless steel body construction with special seals and gaskets which withstand the conditions present at certain depths when diving. These watches can weigh up to half a pound but can endure depths of approximately 300 meters.

Dive Watch Technology

For a dive watch, there are many elements that come into play. These include the crystal covering the dials, the strap, and the crown and so on. The watch also needs to handle differing atmospheric conditions that include helium environment and more. These watches also need to legible because light conditions quickly deteriorate once the diver reaches any real depths.

Once the basic elements are met, the style and appearance of the watch is all that matters. Seiko has been at the forefront of new technologies and designs and is the pioneer for some of the latest technologies for watches. Some of their best watches come under the Seiko Professional Diver Collection. These watches can endure at least 200 meters and saturation diving. Seikos specially made gaskets are featured in these watches. One of the originators of the line is the Seiko Marine Master.

The Marine Master

The Seiko divers watch, the Marine Master, features the ability to go to 300 meters below the surface. It is equipped with a rubber strap to reduce the weight. It also has Lumibrite features that allow visibility in near low light levels. The crystal protecting the face of the watch is made of Hardlex material. It also has an anti reflective coating. The crown of the watch can be tightened for a sure seal, ensuring the watch possesses a super tough seal against pressure and water. Overall, the watch is well liked, with nothing but favorable reviews. Its timing and accuracy is dead on and reliable. The price tag, $2200 dollars.

Seiko Black Monster

Being one of the best dive watches by many divers standards, the Seiko Black sits above the rest. Its many stylish and proven features have made it what it is today. The perfect accessory for all divers. - 16887
