Buying a Camping Chair

By Jack Colville

One of the things that I always bring along on my camping trips is my handy-dandy camping chair. There are few things better than coming back to my campsite at the end of a long day and plopping down by the campfire in my chair. And the best part is that I get to use the chair at home too. It's not like your backpack - that you'll never pull out of the closet at home - I just keep my camping chairs on my deck and use them all the time.

If you are camping in a tent or a trailer, an air chair is a great thing to have with you. Air chairs, also called hammock chairs, can be suspended from a sturdy tree branch. You can also buy a stand for these chairs, but they are bulky and difficult to travel with. Since they only hang from one point, they are more versatile than regular hammocks.

Some important features to look for in a camping chair are to make sure that it comes with a carrying case to help with storage and travel. This will also help keep the chair from being damaged.

You'll also want to make sure that your chair has a cup holder. It may seem like a small detail, but you'll really miss this if you get a chair without one. You're probably not going to have a table with you when you're camping, and holding your cup all the time gets tiresome. In addition, it becomes really difficult when you try and balance your cup and your plate at mealtimes. You'll also want to make sure to get a chair with a footrest. There are few things better than being able to put your aching feet up at the end of the day.

You will also want to pay attention to the quality of the chair. Buying off-brand camping chairs might help you save a buck or two, but you don't want your chair to break on your first trip with it because it was poorly made. Spending a few bucks more to buy a quality chair is definitely a good decision.

No matter what sort of camping you do, having a camping chair is a great choice. There's nothing better than coming back to your campsite after a full day of hiking and fishing and being able to sit down at your campsite with a cold beverage and your feet up. - 16887
