4 Questions To Ask Before Selecting Your Hairstyle

By Toni Moretti

There are numerous factors to take into account when choosing a style of hair, as this tends to be a very personal issue. You want to be certain that the style you choose will suit you the best. No one wishes to spend lots of money to change their hair look or color and be somewhat disappointed by an outcome of looking particularly average or ordinary. Be honest, with yourself during this process as it will be only you which needs to be satisfied with your choice of hairstyle and color.

If you happen to have a facial feature that you are not pleased about, you likely do not want to choose a style that is going to accentuate this. For example, if you feel that your eyes are a great asset, then you would not wish to cover them with a style that has long bangs hiding your eyes.

On the other side, if you were displeased about having a large forehead, then you would likely want to choose a style that would cover it up like a fringe or large bangs. The most important, personal and valuable thing you absolutely must do is a self-assessment of your face and features.

Then you should be looking at photos of people with similar features and assess what they have done to their hair and decide how it will look on you. Photos of celebrities would be the best place to start this process, as their stylists are the best at making their good features stand out and hiding the not so favorable features, as well as having such great advice for these stars. And so by selecting the stars that look as close to you as possible, the process of choosing a hair style that bests suits you is now that much more easy.

Other issues you will need to take into account when considering a new hairstyle would be: 1. Permanent- are you seeking a new style for a specific event, such as a graduation or prom, or will this change be more of a permanent toe that you wish to keep for at least a couple of months.

2. Age- your age should certainly be a factor in your new style and almost dictate what the appropriate style should be.

3. Time- not only do you have enough time for the initial appointment but does your lifestyle provide you with enough time to style and maintain your hair style on an ongoing, regular, and daily basis.

4. Budget- again not just at the initial appointment but also on an ongoing basis are you capable of affording any specialized products that may be required to maintain your new hair style.

Qualified hairstylists are a great source of advice in this matter. They are perfectly suited to assist you with the advice you need and help you make the most logical and practical decision regarding you choices.

It is always best to do research first a have a selection of styles you prefer as compared to styles you dislike and discuss these with your stylist. This gives your professional stylist a greater and more precise understanding of what it is you are looking for in a new style.

It better prepares them to lend advice and assist you in the choosing and decision making process to ensure a perfect style that you are not going to be displeased with. After all, your hairstyle says alot about you and is especially important in first impressions. - 16887
