Using A Paintball Mask - Tips

By Mark Hudson

Do you like playing paintball? It's a rough game. You could get hit possibly anywhere. And you wouldn't want to get hit on the face, right? So it's good to wear a good paintball mask when playing.

A paintball mask is a protective gear for the face for paintball. It is also one of the most important gears to wear while playing. It helps you gain confidence in facing your opponent, putting aside that fear of getting a bruise on the face. It also would help prevent ingestion of the toxic paint through the eyes, mouth, nose or ears.

Paintball masks also prevent eye injuries. Without it, paintball markers can cause considerable eye damage possibly making you go blind. Markers have the speed of up to 300 feet per second. A paintball mask also helps you see better while playing. IT would be best to consider purchasing a mask that would give you 120 degrees vision for a wider view range on the field.

Sometimes, the moisture on your face evaporates onto your lens, especially when temperature outside your mask is cooler. If this is the case, it is wise to wear a paintball mask with thermal lenses or anti-fog lenses. These lenses are composed of two lenses with an air-filled space in between that serve as a barrier of the heat near your face for the temperature outside the mask, stabilizing the temperature on the lens.

Some masks would also be tinted to help you see when the sun is shining to high. These act like sunglasses. A paintball mask also cushions your head in case of falling or tripping preventing head trauma or other head injuries.

Make sure that you want to play paintball first before purchasing anything. Test some masks to check what paintball mask really works for you. It is not necessary to purchase something that you wouldn't need. If you really want to get in the game, make sure that the paintball mask you purchase is actually your size. It should cost from $20 to $100.

Get a paintball mask in a darker color. Brighter colors make it easier for your opponent to spot you in the field, making you an easy target. It does not have to be in camouflage. Darker colors will do.

Also have your paintball mask cover your chin and your ears. Make sure that every part of your face is adequately protected. You can also opt for paintball masks that cover your entire head. It looks something like a motorcycle helmet with a different face guard and different lens of course.

When you look down, your mouth guard must not touch your chest. Make sure that you can look in all directions comfortably when you have your paintball mask on. Also, the padding on your paintball mask is to be taken into consideration as well. It must be firmly glues onto your mask. The foam should take the shape of your face when you wear the mask but revert to its original form when you take it off. This is to ensure that you are comfortable and that it snugly fits your head while you're playing. - 16887
