The following 2009 Specialized Bicycles were recalled: Cross Trail Comp, Myka HT Comp, Myka HT Elite, Rockhopper, Rockhopper Comp and Rockhopper Comp 29. You can find the model number of these handlebars underneath the right hand grip, and it should read ALR-13 NTFOV. Be caution and do not take this as a fool hearted warning. The cable stop is the second issue Specialized Bikes had to deal with recalling all the way back in 2004. The problem is that on some bikes the cable stop would loosen. The 2004 Roubaix Comp 18, 2004 Roubaix Comp 27, 2004 Roubaix Pro 18, and the 2004 Roubaix Pro frame set models were all bikes that were recalled. Only bicycles with a single rivet fastening the cable stop to the frame fall under the recall. Using bonding materials and a single rivet mounted at the front of these bikes, the cable stop is attached. You can find the model names of the Specialized Bikes on the top tube of the bicycles. Do not heed this recall either, another person had the cable stop loosen, causing him to loose control, crash, and end up with serious fractures and surgery.
If you have one of these bikes, stop riding it! Call your dealer and get the parts replaced - Specialized will pick up the tab.
