How To Improve Vertical Leap - Increasing Vertical Jump

If you regularly take part in sport then you will understand just how competitive some activities can be. Many sports now require a good leaping ability. This is not just basketball, soccer and baseball players also spend a lot of time jumping. There are various factors which may contribute to your jumping ability, diet and your genes play a role but most people should be able to improve vertical leap.

As with any sporting ability, being able to jump high cannot be acquired without exercise and training, there is no magic spell that will allow you to leap higher. To begin with it helps to try and practice jumping as often you can. How high you are able to jump is usually determined by the strength of your calf muscles as these give you lift.

Daily exercises should be focused towards improving the size and strength of leg muscles. Perhaps the simplest way to do this is to have a daily session with a skipping rope. If you can skip for approximately thirty minutes each day your leg muscles will become toned and you will also have much better balance and coordination.

When jumping you also need to control your positioning and posture. Many athletes have found that hopping can help them in this regard. Hopping exercises allow both legs to develop in their strength and coordination.

If you attend a gym or have a professional coach they are likely to advice using steps or stairs to develop your vertical leaping ability. Even if you live in a ground floor apartment you will most likely have steps somewhere indoors.

Whatever your reason for wanting to enhance your vertical leap it is possible. It is best to incorporate leg muscle training along with exercises that improve lung capacity so that you don't get out of breath when jumping around. - 16887
