One of the most enjoyable things about living in Australia is the fact that going for bike rides as a family is such a great way to spend your free time. My husband and I have a 2 year old girl who enjoys going for bike rides with us but is too young to ride her own bike, so we were looking for a good child bike seat.
As our 6 and 10 years olds have their own bikes we only needed a child bike seat for youngest, but finding a suitable one was a problem. The only models we could find we rear mounted so we couldn't see him properly and he got fed up looking at my husband's back for the whole journey.
I had been asking family and friends if they knew anywhere that sold a child bike seat that wasn't rear mounted but no one had any ideas. One night I was surfing the net and I found ibert.co.nz a site which sells a child bike seat that I knew would be perfect for us.
The child bike seat in question is the SafeTSeat which is front mounted onto an adult's bike right behind the handle bars. This might sound a little dangerous for the child's legs but they are totally protected by high impact plastic leg sections which go on either side of the handle bars.
When it came to mounting the SafeTSeat my husband was impressed it took him just a few minutes to mount it and even less time to remove it. Now after a few bike rides he can fit the child bike seat in around a minute, so setting off for a ride at a moment's notice is no problem.
As the design of the child bike seat is unconventional I was worried that it would affect the adult rider's balance, with it being mounted behind the handle bars. Thankfully the creators of the SafeTSeat had this in mind and have designed the seat so that it doesn't make any difference to the adult's centre of gravity whilst riding.
Now every time we go for a family bike ride we all get the benefits from this child bike seat. Our daughter feels as though she is riding between us, we can see her all the time and she gets a great view!
Now every time we go biking we use the SafeTSeat and I can safely say that I would never opt for another style of child's bike seat again. It is practical, fun and most of all safe. - 16887
