What American Idol Has To Do With the Latest Karaoke Craze?

People have always loved karaoke. A chance to get up and sing your favorite songs can make you feel like a star. This love of singing has made the reality show American Idol a program that all love to watch. The basis of the show may be similar to other talent contests but the difference lies in the fact that they give the viewers a far more personal look at the contestants involved.

They show their families, hometowns and individual personalities for all to see. At the start of the season the judges make the final decision on who stays and who goes but later it?s the audience who vote for their favorites, The good singers and bad, similar to karaoke are shown to the audience to give the show a more personal touch. Many people would love to realize the dream of becoming a real life rock star and this is why karaoke is so popular in bars and restaurants all over the world and in many different languages.

American Idol fans get to watch their favorite singers from start to finish as they try to impress first the judges then all of America. It?s this connection that has made it possible for the program to enter its seventh season where most similar types of shows last at the most four years. Also not only has it survived past the normal four-season shelf life the viewership has grown bigger each year. Through the contestants, we can all live the dream of becoming a singing star.

The first season introduced us to Kelly Clarkson who went on to win the contest and help make the show into an instant success. Justin Guanni won second place and the two even appeared together in a movie that although did not get good reviews they were still seen as America?s sweethearts. Kelly Clarkson later moved on and became a celebrated pop star in her own right.

Season two had Rubin Studdard and Clay Aiken battling it out, and in the end after the closest results in the history of the program were counted, Rubin prevailed as the winner despite claims that faulty phone lines affected the outcome.

Seasons three and four showed that America likes many different styles of singing with vocalists Fantasia and Carrie Underwood performing vastly different music selections but still claiming the same title as American Idol. Since then Carrie Underwood has not only become an amazing and very well recognized country music star, but she has won every award possible to win.

Season five brought us Taylor Hicks who combined many music themes like Elvis, Joe Cocker, groove and even soul to win America?s hearts.

In the final season, it was the power of gospel that brought Jordin Sparks that much closer to living her dream.

The bottom line is that American Idol, similar to karaoke gives somebody a chance to show what they got when it comes to belting out a good tune and we all wait in anticipation for the next outcome! - 16887
