Why Buying Radio Controlled Cars Is Not That Easy

By Bernard Peterson-Smith

The concept of buying radio controlled cars either in a shop or online seems straight forward but I found the whole process initially overwhelming.

Like nearly every product, there now seems to be hundreds of websites dedicated to just that niche and with so much competition it's hard to decided what's good and what isn't.

You then have to decide what type of radio controlled car you want!

There are various options to choose from including if you want to build it yourself or have it pre built or ready to run as they call it.

Choosing which fuel to opt for also opens up a can of worms and makes the entire process even more baffling.

Now the big one what type of radio control car do you want? One you can race, go off-roading with or even ones that climb over rocks. Seriously, as new buyer I was shocked at just how much I had to choose from and found some of it confusing.

I needed answers and found help from asking myself just one straight forward honest question. What's the one sole reason I want this radio controlled car? By that I mean I had to decide on the main factor for me to make a decision.

As an example the one major factor for you to base your decision on could be money and if that is the case then you can stop looking at nitro and petrol fuelled RC cars now. These are the most expensive.

However if performance and going ultra fast is you single most important reason for wanting this machine then you have to look at anything but electric models and choose a fuel based machine.

Fuel cars generally have the higher running costs compared to electric models. Also nitro fuel can only be bought from specialist stores so consider this also when buying your first RC car.

All in all choosing from a range of radio controlled cars is like choosing a real car. You get what you pay for, so choose wisely and don't be fooled by how it looks only. - 16887
