Modern Aging Treatments May Not Be Superior

By Jen Hopkins

A new dawn has come in the anti-aging fight. Throughout the span of time, women have used a wide variety of products to try to keep their skin youthful and supple. Though there are a wide variety of products available for anti-aging treatment, it's difficult to tell if they are going to work.

Since the beginning of recorded history, herbs and other natural elements have been used to assist a woman in keeping her beauty long lasting. Cleopatra, a standing symbol of feminine superiority, used aloe and honey to accentuate her complexion. Cucumbers, ginger root, jojoba oil and rose water are among the thousands of natural remedies to these inevitable "flaws". But how far do some women go?

The modernly available forms of anti-aging products and facial creams incorporate modern science technology with ancient anti-aging secrets. Some companies offer products with diamond dust to expose the soft young skin, while another option is the wrinkle injection and cream called Botox.

The American anti-aging cosmetic industry is a 1 billion dollar a year industry, and men spend thirty percent of that pie. If you walk into any grocery store, you will see a crazy number of cosmetic products available to treat your any skin complaint or wrinkle. The success of each products is another nail in the coffin for modesty and rationality.

Even some monks in Massachusetts have offered a divine way to stop your skin from aging, at the low, low, price of $65. In this day and age of limited anti-aging science, a tube blessed by the divine is just as likely to reduce your wrinkles as any standard anti-aging wrinkle cream.

Can we really turn back the hands of time? Not yet,but it seems there is no limit to what we will do to remove the batteries and freeze those hands. Wrinkle creams tout exotic ingredients and never before used secrets to explain away the price tag of a months salary. Some, however have taken it to an extreme.

In foreign countries, a few of the most sought after wrinkle creams include oddities such as nightingale bird poo, viper venom and snail slime. It seems any and all fruits applied to the face in the form of a cream work as well...papaya,bananas, pomegranite, cherries and oranges are the preferred. There is no end to what your next vat of cream will have in it.

In today's cosmetic market, it still stands that the true biggest beauty secret is to stop worrying about how you look. Just get a good moisturizer and a quality sunscreen. Keep the amount of makeup you wear to a minimum of toxins, and wash it off as soon as you don't need it. Don't spend too much time tanning in the sun, and use natural ingredients such as a skin-friendly mask of oatmeal, honey and olive oil. Your body doesn't need any foreign ingredients to keep your skin healthy; it just needs simple care and moisturization, along with a vacation. Save yourself hundreds on spa treatments; it's likely all your skin needs is a relaxing evening at home with a couple cucumber slices. - 16887
