Radio Controlled Cars: The Crawler Rules

By Harry Cottleslump

When you are next searching the web or high street for your next radio controlled car, consider all options and don't be led to believe that all radio control cars have to look like sports cars.

Stop there....falling into this trap could cause you to miss out on untold fun. Sports cars are great in many ways but simply put the radio controlled crawlers or truggies are better. Bigger yes, bolder yes...but also better.

Sceptical? Well don't be...these models are serious bits of kit. They are ruthless in the sheer way the tackle any object that dare crosses their path...and if it does, well they simple go over it!

Most obstacles including woodland terrain, sandy beaches and gravelled paths are no match for most of the high end radio controlled crawlers.

The better radio controlled cars like these have beautifully machined aluminium with hardened steel as the basis for a skeleton. They come equipped with tread so deep on the tyre profiles that vertical surfaces at times seem possible!

These RC crawlers are complete brutes and at times even appear to be violent in their actions and behaviour, making them fascinating to watch and control...if you can!

The top range RC models will have oil filled shocks so as they can manage the rougher surfaces without damaging the crawlers axle. Therefore it is important to spend a little more to get the better model.

Spending less than $100 on a crawler is not worth it long term as the costs would soon spiral out of control when you have to keep replacing the parts. Not to mention the frustration at having to stop start every time you hit a slight bump.

Pay that little bit more for the better brand names like Acme or HSP and you will see the difference. It wont let you down

No matter what model you choose and what brand you choose you have to all do one thing...and that's test this machine to within an inch of its life. After all that's what these radio controlled cars are built to do. - 16887
