SRAM is now competing with Campagnolo and Shimano in the equipment market. For a very long time only Campagnolo and Shimano have manufactured equipment for bikes now it is nice to see something new on the market. SRAM has a feel very much like Campagnolo. The weight is more centralized in the body of the lever, unlike Shimano that puts the mechanism on the lever itself. This gives it a much lighter feel than a Shimano gearing. The SRAM is constructed of mostly carbon and alloy with a little titanium.

SRAM also does a very good job at keeping their pricing down in the realistic ranges. Since this is a fairly new manufacturer of bike equipment only time will tell if the equipment will hold up to the demands put on it from riders.
Can SRAM succeed
There is no reason why SRAM will not compete in the market with Shimano or Campagnolo. As soon as SRAM gets their product in the shops and installed on some professional team bikes people will begin asking for their products. As it was said before, only Shimano and Campagnolo have been manufacturing equipment for a very long time and a lot of people want another choice. Of course, only time will tell this too, but I believe that SRAM will be a successful manufacturer of bike equipment in the future.
