Is A Disposable Underwater Camera Useful?

By Pat Grier

A disposable underwater camera is a wonderfully affordable and solid item for anyone intending on going on a vacation or who travels frequently. They are made to be more durable than standard disposable cameras as they are made to keep water outside of the delicate inside. They are much cheaper than a fully-fledged underwater camera, which can cost more than $1,500. Underwater disposable models are something that any traveler or vacationer would do well to consider before going on their big trip or vacation.

Though the main purpose for the underwater disposable is to take pictures beneath the water's surface, there are other places where this rugged camera can be beneficial. Underwater disposables are great for using at the beach, the pool, or in the desert - where sand, sun, and water might prove to damage expensive digital equipment and lenses. In this regard, the disposable underwater camera can be considered to be a total weather camera that is ready to take shots no matter how inclement the weather.

You can use your disposable underwater camera while doing a big variety of outdoor activities. Some of which include surfing, fishing, and even snorkeling. Many disposable underwater cameras are waterproof up to 50 feet - so getting that memorable shot has never been easier.

When buying your underwater single use camera, be sure to look for one that is rugged and durable. Your camera should feature an easy to grip construction that will allow you to hold onto it easily, even if you happen to be wearing gloves. The camera should also be small enough to fit in your pocket. There are multiple versions of the disposable underwater camera - all are preloaded with film and are usually 400 speed, and most have anywhere from 27-36 exposures. Don't plan to spend too much on this camera, as many are priced at under $20, many even lower. Many stores will also offer bundle packages of three or more cameras at a discount.

With this type of camera, remember that investing in name brand does not translate into getting a better camera. There are numerous off-brand disposable underwater cameras that function just as well as the more reputable names available. You should also look for a camera that has a flash function in order to get really good underwater pictures. Also, keeping the sun is behind you in your underwater photographs will allow you to get better images with your disposable underwater camera. - 16887
