To beat the Rams at home by a score of 9-7 isn't exactly impressive, but they'll take it however they can get it. At least the defense seemed to be effective. Then again, it all happened against the Rams, a team that struggled to score throughout 2008 and seems to have the same problem in 2009.
They lost to the Detroit Lions in week 3. Either the Detroit Lions were finally do for a win and it just happened to be against the Redskins - or the loss against the Lions showed the lack of focus and determination the Redskins have.
The Cowboys, Giants, and Eagles play competitive football nearly every year, and attempting to win that division is an extremely tall order for a team like Washington. For this reason, every game and every week matters to the fullest.
The Washington Redskins have a very tough schedule when you consider they must play the Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles twice a season.
The defensive unit for Washington seemed solid on paper, but hasn't been showing up (I don't count the Rams game). The defenses in New York, Philadelphia, and Dallas are all stronger than that in Washington.
Their receivers (Santana Moss, Chris Cooley, etc.) are good, but not great. Maybe with a better QB, they would look great.
In 08', Campbell did compete 62% of his pass attempts which shows he can be accurate enough, but his leadership qualities are questioned. Jim Zorn should do a better job at helping him develop.
Where the Skins will go from here is anybody's guess, but they remain a long shot to win the division. This is a tough division, and barring any major injuries to the other teams, I just don't see the Redskins vying for a playoff spot. - 16887
