A way i started a paintball team

By Rob Lew

At first I gathered as much information as possible about the game. Its origin, strategy and rules. I learned over the internet and other sources that paintball is a game that was started in the early 1980s.The game requires players to throw paint pellets at each other.

This process is done by using a gas powered paintball gun. Try to avoid the term "gun" because people in the sport like to use the word marker. Paintball marker would be the politically correct way to say it.

Through my research I found that the game could be played indoors or outdoors, so I had to find a place that would be interesting to play at. Once I found somewhere I called up my friends and asked them if they would like to play paintball. Of course they thought it would be an awesome idea because they have never heard of the game before. So we talked about it and decided to make a team.

The next step we had to take was to find a show that sold paintball supplies. This was a hard thing to do because there are no paintball stores in my town. So I had to drive to a larger town that was farther away to get the supplies that we needed.

I found a large paintball supply store because I knew that they would have enough equipment for my twelve friends. We only needed the basics so I purchased masks, paintballs and of course the markers. I managed to find a manual that you could buy.

My friends and I split into two teams that would face each other that were made up of six people each. I told them the rules of play before hand so everyone knew how to play and we also went over our equipment. We voted that overshooting would not be tolerated and if you were found doing it, you would get kicked out of the game.

We also agreed that since we were all very new to this game there should be no ramping. The players also decided that camouflage clothing was the way to go since we were all very serious about this sport however new it may be to us.

Each of the two teams picked out team leaders and we all decided to play the game in the afternoons since most of us if not all of us were free. The game has become very popular amongst kids in our neighborhood and they all want to join in. It is not easy to turn down the eager kids but there is an age limit as well as lack of insufficient equipment to consider. - 16887
